Grundy Center softball will begin the 2025 postseason at Alburnett on Wednesday, July 9, per regional postseason pairings released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union on Friday.

The Pirates are currently 21-8. The last meeting between these teams was in last year’s regional quarterfinal in Alburnett, where Grundy Center upset the then 2nd-ranked Pirates, 8-6.

The Spartans and Pirates are part of the Class 2A Region 5 bracket. The winner will advance to the regional semifinals on Friday, July 11 and face the winner of a quarterfinal in Durant with the No. 5 Wildcats and either Waterloo Columbus or West Branch.

On the bottom half of the bracket, No. 9 Lisbon will host either Iowa City Regina or Northeast, and the fourth quarterfinal sends Hudson out to 13th-ranked Jesup for an NICL clash.

The regional final is scheduled for Monday, July 14 and will be hosted by the highest remaining ranked team from the final IGHSAU rankings. The state softball tournament is scheduled from July 21 to July 25 at Rogers Park in Fort Dodge.
