STORY CITY — Grundy Center boys golf won a Class 2A sectional meet at River Bend Golf Course on Wednesday.

The Spartans shot a 296 team score, advancing to a district tournament at South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 19. East Marshall (317 strokes) and Roland-Story (324) also advanced in the team competition; West Marshall’s Hunter Polley and the Dike-New Hartford duo of Lewis Textor and Carson Costello advanced as individual district qualifiers from non-qualifying teams.

Grundy Center’s Judd Jirovsky was the meet medalist with a 4-under 68 and Spartan teammate Preston Martens was the only other golfer under par with a 2-under 70. East Marshall’s Cody Weaver finished third with a 73.

Rounding out the scoring for the Spartans were Jalen Kirkpatrick (77) and Eli Wegmann (81). Jaxon Kiewiet and Alex Kiewiet shot 82 and 85, respectively.
